Breakout Boxes

KJS Creative Curriculum (Learning) develops content for teachers to utilize in the classroom over a variety of subject matter - mainly targeted at middle school and high school students. These lessons are distributed online via the highly competitive platform, Teachers Pay Teachers. In this commission the covers needed to serve two purposes. First, they must grab the viewers attention and drive teachers to KJS Creative Curriculum products over other similar creations on the market. Second, the design of the covers must create continuity for the brand and be easily identifiable to aid current users in exploring other lesson plan options.

Vibrant colors and whimsical imagery draws the eye into each cover and convey the playfulness of the game. To establish a consistent experience

throughout, the covers consist of similar formatting with only the color, subject matter, and font varying between each one. The implementation of alliterations in the titles further ties the pieces together through the theme of the "ABC's of Breakout Boxes" - thus making any work easily recognizable as KJS Curriculum content.

In addition to the cover design, several breakout box kits required photography or illustrative designs inside the pages to solve for clues. Simplified designs with colorful depictions of the content helped to achieve a continuation of the playful vibe of the cover. Overall, the aim was to create an inviting design that would appeal to both middle and high school teachers while still portraying the fun and creativity of the activity.
